For Schools, Universities and Employers

The method was built to be used in groups as well as alone. The Audit fits into a single lesson, and the book comes with discussion questions for every chapter.

What a Single Lesson Delivers

The core of the method fits into one session of 45 to 60 minutes. Here is a 50-minute plan.

  1. Minutes 0 to 5: The ratchet. Show the clickable row on the home page and ask where on the row today’s entry-level jobs sit.
  2. Minutes 5 to 15: The Four Rooms. Introduce the two questions with the map, then sort five familiar tasks as a class.
  3. Minutes 15 to 35: The Audit. Each student lists their own tasks and places them in rooms, on the worksheet or online.
  4. Minutes 35 to 45: Pairs. Students compare their valuable cores and challenge each other’s edge scores with evidence.
  5. Minutes 45 to 50: One Shift. Each student writes one concrete change for the term on the Ninety-Day Plan template.

Every student leaves with a one-page Audit, one edge to build and one change to make this term. For a 60-minute session, give the Audit 30 minutes.
